MP DESIGN - Services Offered

MP DESIGN is a small woman owned full-service design studio, lead by Manuela Paparella, located in Kings Beach, CA. We specialize in remodels, from full house projects down to a tiny Powder Room redo, to custom built-in cabinetry design to paint color consultations.

We strive to provide not only well thought through functional designs but also creative and visually pleasing spaces which blend with the existing architecture. We practices a holistic design/remodeling philosophy. Our approach is to take all project aspects in consideration. This includes use of space, furniture layout, budget, value engineering, timing, resale value, etc. We walk you through the process, explaining pros and cons along the way, answering questions while keeping your goals and budget in mind.

Fee structure: We bill both by the hour or by the project, depending on the scope of your project. Remodels are typically billed on an hourly basis.

1. Planning + Budgeting

We assist you in the initial planning phase of your project to determine feasibility and execution, taking various facts and your goals in consideration such as local planning and building code requirements, your budget allocated to the project, etc.

In terms of budget, we understand that many home and business owners are not aware of how much the project will cost. In general, we suggest to start out with “not to exceed” number that you are willing to allocated to your project. We are happy to help you formulate a realistic budget in order to realize your project.

3. Architectural Drawings

We can design/draft architectural drawings for construction and permit procurement. If you need any custom designs of interior architectural features such as custom built-in cabinetry, we are happy to assist as well.

Note: For larger remodels and where structural elements are involved, our approach is to consult with a Structural Engineer and General Contractor early on in the design development. We have found that this approach has allowed us to value engineer many remodels. This has saved our clients construction costs while maintaining the project’s design integrity.

4. Specifications

We can help you research, select, specify and purchase finishes, fixtures, equipment for your remodeling to TI project. This typically involves, flooring finishes, cabinetry, countertops, appliances and equipment, wall finishes including tile and stone, ceiling finishes including acoustical ceilings, lighting, etc.

We put together Schedules (you can think of them as a “parts list”)and attach all the specifications to go with each listed item. These Schedules become part of the construction documents which will be used by the Client and Contractors. Sometimes, the building department may request specific material/finish/fixture/equipment specifications for permit approval.
